Krakow is one of the few European city centres that came through the war intact, and it shows – the old town and the castle district are the real thing, not a rebuild. The city takes conference groups at real scale, and the price stretches further here than almost anywhere else in Europe. We have recently run a group of a hundred people here, so capacity is not the constraint.

Why Krakow works for conferences
Krakow works for groups of almost any size, which is unusual for a destination this atmospheric – most cities with an old town this good cannot handle more than fifty people without straining the venues. Krakow can, and the price level means the saving usually goes straight into the programme. The combination of real history, real capacity and a price that leaves room to spend is hard to match elsewhere in Europe.
Hotels and meeting venues in Krakow
Holiday Inn Krakow City Centre is the one we go back to for larger groups – real conference floors, enough rooms to keep the whole group under one roof, and close enough to the old town that nobody needs a coach for the evening. We recently ran a group of a hundred people through it without the logistics becoming the story. For smaller groups we look at boutique hotels inside the old town walls instead.
Activities and dinners in Krakow
The Main Square and St Mary's Basilica anchor an evening that needs no planning – the whole old town is built for walking between dinner spots. We book dinners at Kogel Mogel and Wesele, two kitchens that do Polish food properly rather than for tourists, and Morskie Oko for a folk-style evening with live music when the group wants something livelier. Wieliczka Salt Mine, twenty minutes outside the centre, gives a group an activity unlike anything else on a European conference trip.
