Why Hemavan works for conferences
Hemavan trades size for exclusivity. It is smaller than Åre and further north, which means fewer people, shorter queues and a real chance of having the mountain to yourselves. The airport is twenty minutes from the slopes – unusually close for a Swedish mountain destination, and it means an hour and a half from Stockholm puts the group in ski boots the same afternoon. Both seasons work: skiing from December, and Kungsleden and the fishing from June.
Hotels and meeting venues in Hemavan
Hemavan is small, which works in a group's favour – book the right place and you have effectively taken over the resort. Hemavan Fjällcenter sits at the foot of the slopes with meeting rooms, restaurant and ski storage in the same building, so nobody moves between locations in ski boots. Hotell Hemavan is the alternative in the village with a similar setup at a lower rate. For groups that want everything under one roof and no other guests, whole-facility bookings are realistic here in a way they are not further south.
Activities and dinners in Hemavan
Hemavan is one of the few places in Sweden where heliskiing is a real option, and for the right group it is the thing they will talk about for years. For everyone else the slopes are quiet and the queues are short. Snowmobile tours run up onto the high fell where the view goes on for a very long way. In summer, Kungsleden starts here – the group can walk the first stretch and turn back, which needs no equipment and no fitness. Fishing is good in the lakes around the village.

How do you get to Hemavan?
About an hour and a half by air from Stockholm to Hemavan Tärnaby, then twenty minutes by coach. The airport is one of the closest to the slopes anywhere in Sweden, which saves a group most of a day compared with the alternatives.
How large a group does Hemavan take?
Hemavan is smaller than Åre, which caps the size of group it takes but makes whole-facility bookings realistic. Tell us the numbers early and we will say straight away whether it fits or whether Åre is the better call.
When is the best time for a conference in Hemavan?
December to April for snow, with the light returning properly from March. June to September for hiking and fishing, when it barely gets dark at all and the fell is empty.
